What if your facility is currently unprotected? You may want the security knowing lives and property are safe from fire, but cannot afford an interruption of business while fire protection systems are being installed. Davis-Ulmer has successfully installed numerous systems in occupied businesses including high-rise buildings, nursing/healthcare facilities, industrial, and commercial facilities requiring careful planning and coordination with facility management, staff and occupants. These projects were successfully executed transparently, or with minimal disruption to normal business activity.
Effective October 2008, the Department of Health and Human Services has mandated retrofit sprinkler protection for all long term healthcare facilities receiving Medicare or Medicaid funding. This ruling requires compliance by August 2013. In other buildings or facilities retrofit installation of fire sprinklers may also be driven by the New York State Existing Building Code. Based on the percentage of alteration work on any floor of a building previously "grandfathered", renovation work in existing structures may require the installation of fire sprinklers in areas under renovation.
