Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Grunau created a unique fire protection system by piping through the complexity of the rock work and down mulitple levels into the tunnels of this adventurous coaster ride in Fantasyland. Sprinkler heads were concealed with custom color eschuteons. A challenge on this project was getting materials into the park through one employee-shared access so it did not disrupt the normal buiness of the theme park.

Port Orleans – Lake Buena Vista
Port Orleans is a popular hotel at Walt Disney World in Florida, famous for its Louisiana flair. When park officials discovered existing fire protection piping on the hotel’s roof was beginning to corrode, they called Grunau to resolve. Original black steel piping and fittings were replaced with stronger galvanized steel. Grunau swapped out nearly a mile of piping across all 7 buildings that make up the Port Orleans hotel complex and coordinated work to keep the hotel fully-operational.

Strong Arm – the Facility – Orlando
Project Strong Arm, also known as the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, involved a lot of design coordination when Grunau installed the 1 dry pipe system, 4 wet pipe systems, 2 electric fire pump systems and limited underground work at the theme park attraction. Sprinkler drops were laid out and installed without a ceiling in place, then the framing and drywall were attached, followed by the theming contractors’ wood slats and beams. Several of the rooms have high ceilings and small doorways so reaching construction areas was challenging. Grunau worked with the Universal Studios Creative team to coordinate sprinklers with ceiling finishes.
